June 26, 2000 New York - "Despite heavy rains and cool temperatures, hundreds of people had summer in their hearts as they dined on barbeque and partied at the Great French & American Chef Barbeque Challenge, a benefit in support of City Meals on Wheels and the James Beard Foundation. Several upscale Manhattan Restaurants not normally known for barbeque as well as a number of out-of-town barbeque specialist from the South and Midwest convened at Rockefeller Center for the annual cook-off. Some 26 restaurants and prominent chefs participated in the event this year. Among some of the players were K.C. Masterpiece Restaurants, Overland Park, Kan.; Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn, Owensboro, Ky.; An American Place, New York; Aureole, New York; Jean Georges, New York; Don Strange of Texas, San Antonio."
