Dine In & Carry Out

According to Gourmet Magazine Moonlite’s famous buffet is “spectacular”and “Puts Owensboro barbecue in a class by itself.” That’s nothing new for Moonlite. People come from miles around to feast on their world famous buffet. It is not uncommon to see people from all over the world, from Russian Goodwill Ambassadors, to bus loads from New Zealand, Moonlite is always a must stop for anyone visiting from out-of-state, or from out of the country. The buffet is contained in it’s own room, with staff that keeps the contents fresh, clean and never ending. On one side of the buffet there is an abundance of barbecue and other meats with a large collection of country style vegetables including our special recipe Corn Muffins. Along with a large salad bar located across the room that features our own recipe for Banana Salad, our Blue Ribbon Desserts have their own counter and you can always find a warm cobbler and soft serve ice cream. 

The lunch buffet is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday thru Saturday. A dinner buffet is served from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday, and 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday a brunch buffet is served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the restaurant closes at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday so the family can spend some time together. Along with the buffet, the restaurant features a menu of Barbecue dinners, sandwiches, country ham, deliciously seasoned vegetables, fresh salads, (catfish on Thursday and Friday nights), and homemade deserts including some of their blue ribbon pies. Moonlite also has a fast-paced carry out department which serves the Owensboro area with a complete take out menu. We offer everything from sandwiches to by the pound products in our take out. You can also choose from a large selection of canned and bottled products, T-shirts, hats, cookbooks and a wide selection of specialty items.
